This is a hand painted 9 inch plate from the "Hillbilly Series." The back states "Italian Hand Painted Hillbilly Series" for TMJ&S. The image on the front is signed by Gene Paull, under a glossy glaze. The scene is of hillbilly men in a truck going fishing. The colors are white and mostly green, and are very bright. Research shows it to be from the 1950's or 1960's, but there is no way to verify this because the plate, as well as other Hillbilly plates in the series, are very hard to find. Also, we were not able to find any information on the artist or TMJ&S. This came from the estate of a dear friend who formerly lived in the Panhandle of Texas, and was known to have this plate for years; it is not known how many years. This plate is in excellent condition, with no chips or marks. There are a couple of scuff marks on the edge; very small, and can be seen in the picture.
